Online Caribbean Stud is a popular and interesting variation of online poker. As always with online casino games, the rules might seem a bit complicated, but there's nothing you won't be able to understand.
Game process
The game begins when the players offer their ante and make optional $1 progressive side bets. After that each player is dealt five cards face-down and the dealer gives himself five cards - one face-up and four face-down. The players are allowed to look at their cards, but they are not allowed to share any information on what cards they have. At this time it's up to the player to decide whether to raise the ante and continue the game or to fold. Actually, this is the only decision that the player takes during a hand, so if you are new to this game you don’t have to worry about complicated strategies.
The player's cards, ante bet and any side bets that were made for the hand are forfeited if the player decides to fold. If the player thinks he has a good hand he places a raising bet. The raising bet is twice the amount of the original ante bet. Then, the dealer turns all his five cards face up, so all the players saw his cards. At this point it is obligatory for the dealer to have at least a king and an ace in order for the game to continue. In accordance with official Caribbean Stud rules the lowest hand the dealer may qualify with is 2, 3, 4, king, ace.
The player's raise is pushed and he wins the money on his ant bet if the dealer does not have a qualifying hand. "Pushed" (a term mostly used in online gambling) means a draw and that the player gets his bet back. In case the player's hand is beaten by the qualified dealer's hand, then the player loses both ante bet and raise, and the dealer wins. If the dealer has a qualifying hand but it doesn't beat the player's hand then the dealer pays even money on the player's ante bet and on the raise bet. A side bet pay table will help the player to determine the amount of winnings from progressive side bets.
