Online casino war is similar to the childhood games like "Battle" or "War". You will find Casino War in most of the online casinos today. The game is pretty simple - if you know how to count you can play this game.

Rules

At the beginning each player is dealt one card face up. After that the dealer takes a card face up. If the player beats the dealer, the player wins. If the dealer beats the player, the player loses. All cards have the same rankings as in poker.

Casino War cards ranking (from highest to lowest):

  • Ace (Ace could also be the lowest card)
  • King
  • Queen
  • Jack
  • Ten
  • Nine
  • Eight
  • Seven
  • Six
  • Five
  • Four
  • Three
  • Two

If the player has the same card as the dealer he has an option to either go to war with the dealer (by matching his initial bet) or to surrender (by forfeiting half of the initial bet). If the player chooses to go to war, the dealer burns 3 cards and deals the player another card. After that the dealer burns 3 more cards and takes one for him.

If the player's second card is higher than the dealer's card, the player wins his initial bet. If the dealer wins, the player loses both of his bets. If the second player's card ties the dealer's card, the player wins. Note that the in this situation the dealer doesn't pay off the second bet the player risks to go to war. That's how the house gets its edge.

Also, the player is allowed to make a side bet which pays 10:1 (the house edge for this particular bet is approximately 18%). What concerns going to war with the dealer, it is up to the player to do it if he decides to play this game. The casino's edge is 3,7% if the player surrenders and 2,9% if the player decides to go to war.
