Gambling operators interested in coming to South Florida have spent almost 2 million dollars on lobbyists in South California support this year. In general, within a year the lobbyists have got up to 3 million dollars from gambling companies.
All the fuss is about a new gambling resort project in South Florida which can bring new 100,000 jobs and many millions of dollars as taxes to the state, to say nothing of the profit of the gambling companies themselves.
The biggest casino companies, such as Las Vegas Sands the Seminole Tribe’s casinos are ready to come to South Florida, but the legislation remains too tough to allow all forms of gambling in the area necessary for full functioning of such a huge casino resort. This makes gambling operators spend millions of the support of the parties ready to protect their interests in the Congress.
